The Deux Rives—Zwei Ufer project, which includes the renovation of the COOP site, has been awarded the SIAIT trophy for the best urban improvement and development project for a city with more than 200,000 inhabitants.
Over 650 leading private and public-sector professionals in regional development, real estate and infrastructures came together in Paris for the second year of the SIATI trophy. The trophy is awarded for projects which stand out through their diversity, efficiency and innovation, while supporting sustainable development. The prizewinner this year in the Best urban improvement and development project for a city with more than 200,000 inhabitants category is Strasbourg, for the latest stage of its Deux Rives—Zwei Ufer project, covering the Port and Rives du Rhin districts (which include the COOP). The city came out as joint winner of the trophy, with Toulon, against stiff competition from Montpellier, Rennes and Toulouse.
The prize was received by Roland Ries in December and is symbolic of the national recognition given to one of the largest French urban development projects, and one of the few examples of cross-border cooperation.
